Educationist and chief patron Ms. Sunita Kanoria took up the reins of Suryodaya School in 2012. Suryodaya is an English-medium secondary school that provides services to children from slum areas in South Kolkata. She leads a committed team of teachers and staff who work tirelessly to provide quality and holistic education to children from weaker socio-economic sections of society. Besides innovative methods of teaching academics, vocational training is provided in areas such as computer skills, dance, and arts and crafts—all on the school premises—in an attempt to develop well-rounded performers.
Suryodaya promotes the health and overall well-being of the children through various initiatives, such as providing a healthy and nutritious lunch, conducting health checks, and making referrals for treatment as required. Children are motivated to perform in a student-friendly environment where the ethos is a belief in the potential of each child. Ms. Kanoria’s tireless efforts ensure that the school prepares our children to be worthy citizens of society.
A pioneer in the field of education, Sunita Kanoria has taken up the
daunting task of
spreading literacy among the upper and middle class society and also among the under
privileged children and have nots of the society.
Right from her formative years, Sunita dreamt of creating a better world and wanted to
use education as an effective tool for social change, eradicating poverty, illiteracy
and gender bias. She initiated the light of education in the late nineties by first
being a teacher to little children at Mothers Care Montessori. She learnt to nurture
little minds to eventually become a successful and experienced educationist. Eventually
she moved out on her own in 2004 and started the Suryodaya School of Montessori and
playhouse. She established this world class Montessori at Highland Park, a modern and
beautiful property on the bypass – the outer fringes of Kolkata.
As Chief Patron of Suryodaya Schools (A Suryodaya Foundation Initiative), she has been
working tirelessly towards fulfilling her vision of providing low-cost but quality
education and nutrition to deprived children, making them self-dependant.
Sunita's will power, dedication and determination have turned her dream into reality. At
present, in the Suryodaya Schools for under privileged run two secondary level schools
in Kolkata with a combined capacity of 700 students....
The schools provide a nurturing and caring environment with comprehensive quality
education that is affordable for masses.Under her guidance and leadership, the schools
have been transforming young minds in more ways than one. Suryodaya Schools provide
textbooks, notebooks and uniforms and offer students free mid-day meals and
vocational/Skilled base courses for children and parents. Further, under her direction
and supervision she initiated various activities at the Suryodaya Activity Centre in
2014.
She encourages children from all walks of life to come together for various activities
bring simple fund and joy in their lives. The Schools are managed by a team of highly
qualified, experienced and skilled teachers along with trained administrative staff.
Today, Sunita is one of the most respected women entrepreneurs in the country.
Dr. H. P. Kanoria has many accomplishments straddling various fields including
business, journalism, education, social initiatives focusing particularly on women’s
welfare and promotion of value, peace and harmony, hardworking selflessly through
spirituality. He is the Chairman and Trustee of Kanoria Foundation, an entity of the
KANORIA family, headquartered in Kolkata.
The Foundation is dedicated for creating
wealth for generation, wealth for development, growth and welfare for Bharatvarsh
by creating business enterprises with long-term and sustainable objectives while
anchoring its businesses with strategic partnerships and myriad social and CSR
activities. It is primarily engaged in the business of Infrastructure and also social and

Mr. Sheo Shankar Chaturvedi brings over 40 years of extensive experience in banking and financial matters. His deep understanding of the industry coupled with his commitment to socio-economic development, particularly in remote rural and underdeveloped regions, highlights his dedication to fostering positive change.
Mr. Chaturvedi's involvement in various social activities, including education and sports initiatives for the differently-abled and underprivileged, showcases his passion for community upliftment. His affiliation with a sports club in the Calcutta metro further underscores his commitment to holistic development.
With a vision to transform Suryodaya School into a knowledge hub and a Center of Excellence, Mr. Chaturvedi aims to instill human values and ethics alongside academic education. His goal is to equip students with essential life skills, enabling them to navigate challenges with resilience and find opportunities for personal and professional growth.

Well, that’s how it seemed to me when I took up the responsibility as the Head of an institution of Suryodaya School (Santoshpur) being entrusted to manage more than 600 students belonging to the under privileged section of the Society. I empathize with the kids, respect them and believe that each one has something special that can be built upon. Suryodaya understands that providing education is just one step in integrating socially and economically challenged children into the main stream. Through Suryodaya, we are able to touch their lives, not just through education, but also by providing them an environment where they feel cared for. Education is an important step to facilitate the vision of excellence, a mission to build a beautiful and a just world. We aim for all round development and building confidence among our students. As it is justly said “you can teach a student a lesson for a day but if you can teach him to learn by creating curiosity, he will continue the learning process as long as he lives”. Hello, my name is Samiran Gharami, an alumni of Suryodaya High School 2020-21
batch. As an alumni of Suryodaya High School ,I am grateful for the invaluable support
and learnings that has played a vital role in shaping the person I am today. The
foundation laid by my school has been instrumental in guiding my academic and
personal journey, leading me to pursue higher education in electronics and
instrumentation engineering at Acharya Prafulla Chandra Roy Polytechnic, Jadavpur.
Moreover, my school emphasized development, encouraging participation in
extracurricular activities, sports, and cultural events . Through participation in
events
such as sports, quizzes, cultural programs, and group projects, I developed leadership
skills, teamwork, communication skills and a sense of responsibility towards society.
These experiences not only enriched my educational journey but also helped me
cultivate important life skills that are invaluable in today's competitive
world.
The housing system in Suryodaya High school is also a great way to teach students
leadership and teamwork. The students are divided into four houses, namely, Air, Water,
Earth and Fire. I, in my time was the house captain of Air house, which taught me how
to lead a group of people to work together, which is helping me a lot in my current
life.
Other than academics, my school taught moral and ethical values, teaching the
importance of integrity, honesty, and togetherness. These values continue to guide my
decisions in both my personal and professional life. I carry with me the lessons learned
and the memories cherished from my time at Suryodaya, grateful for the role it has
played in shaping my life and future aims.
Education is an essential part of our lives. We stand nowhere without knowledge and education is what separates us from others. The main step of acquiring education is enrolling oneself in a school . School serves as the first learning place for everyone. It is the first spark in receiving Education. My schools name is SURYODAYA HIGH SCHOOL which is one of the most prestigious and respected school in our city. A school is a place where students are taught the fundamentals of life, as well as how to grow and survive in life. My school is my second home where I spend most of my time. Above all it gives me a platform to do better in life and also builds my personality. I see my school as the lighthouse of education bestowing knowledge as well as ethical conduct upon us. The teaching staff is regarded as the foundation of any educational society. I am very much blessed to have the worlds best teachers in my school. In contrast to other school my school doesnt solely focus on academic performance it also emphasize on the overall development of their students. Simran’s achievement serves as a beacon of inspiration for current students and her recent visit to the school undoubtedly motivated and ignite aspirations among the present student body.
Down the memory lane,I still remember those days when I had joined Suryodaya High School on 2012.Although I have previous experience of working as a teacher in a small school, but this is a quite new experience in this school. I had started teaching as a pre primary teacher and later on started teaching vernacular to middle school students.I really used to enjoy the association of my small children, starting from Montessori to class two.They come more closer than the younger ones and shared their colourful thoughts with me.I forget my age and enjoy the playful time with them.I really feel proud for my students who are successful in their career.When they come to meet us occasionally,I really feel great to be a part of this school .Now the school is intermingled with the tune of my life.The association of my colleagues and students give a new meaning of my everyday chores.I hope that my school will be highlighted brightly as a prominent institution in the coming years under the guidance of our beloved Principal Ma'am, senior teachers and administrative staff.

मुझे अपने विद्यालय में शिक्षिका की भूमिका निभाते हुए बहुत साल बीत गए । मुझे यहाँ के
निम्न स्तरीय और वंचित सामान्य छात्र – छात्राओं को पढ़ाना बहुत अच्छा लगता है । इस
विद्यालय के बच्चे बहुत ही मिलनसार हैं । विद्यालय में निचली कक्षा से उच्च कक्षा तक सभी
बच्चे स्नेह और प्यार के आकांक्षी हैं । वे हमेशा हमारा ध्यान अपनी ओर आकर्षित करते हैं
।
मैं प्रत्येक बच्चों की बात को अच्छी तरह सुनती हूँ और समस्याओं को सुलझाने की कोशिश करती

कामयाब होने में असमर्थ हैं , उन्हें मैं इस प्रकार प्रोत्साहित करती हूँ कि वे पास हो जाते
हैं । मैं माध्यमिक विद्यार्थियों को बहुत मेहनत से पढ़ाती हूँ ताकि वे परीक्षा में अस्सी
के ऊपर अंक लेकर उत्तीर्ण हो जाए ।
